I have a 16 year old, out of control son. No One can help him. I need serious help please?

My son is now 16. He was diagnosed with /adhd and medicated for years. Now he is out of control. Violent, aggressive, hates the world, and treats everyone like crap. Has no respect and feels the world owes him. Now he is smoking dope, drinking, and not schooling. He has been expelled AGAIN, from another school. He went to school a month ago, on drugs, went nuts, punched a glass door and sliced his arm open. Cut nerves %26amp; tendons. Had microsurgery. Bled alot. Now doesnt look after his arm. Now, because no feeling in the fingers, he burns them with a cigarette lighter. A finger is badly infected, and may have to be removed.


He has seen the best head doctors in this country. The professionals know he is dangerous. No one will do anything about it. He gets away with everything. He hates his father, and expects everyone to do everything for him. I have tried. All of us have. I need some serios advice, because authorities do nothing %26amp; I cant comit him. when somebody poses a serious danger to themselves or others, there is no other option apart from them to be placed in the appropriate care. I think you need to keep a record of this, with the police, and with yourself day to day generally. Write it all down, show the professionals you speak of the evidence to make your worries clear. You really do need help and fast.

If he is doing harm to himself, you might be able to have him hospitalized. Sounds like he might have a chemical imbalance. It could take 6 months or longer for him to accept the help. You are only legally responsible until he is 18 yrs of age. Sounds like reactive attachment disorder. If you have a Mental Health Center in your area, seek some help for both of you....you may need it just for validation.

i tend to agree with the Military or Reform school... send him to military school, and they will make sure he gets his medicine, and he is disciplined...

Actually you can commit him and that would be the best thing. There is only so much you can do ';After the fact'; a lot of this is the result of years of problems and you can't expect to be able to fix it now just because you want to.

Oh my gosh. I am soooo sorry. I went thru this when my son was 15. Same exact thing. No one would help me. I checked into counseling, military school, you name it, I called everyone. I didn't know what to do. I had a younger child in my home. I was married - he hated my new husband. He would tell my daughter that when she woke up, she'd find him in a pool of blood. He also told her that we (my husband and I) had to sleep sometime. Like he was going to kill us. My ex (his dad) was no help either. I finally had to have him arrested. They did it because of some of the stuff he wrote. Anyhow, they kept him in jail for 1 nite. Then we had court the next day and my ex showed up to look like he was Mr. Wonderful. The judge ended up making him take my son home with him. My son is now 21 and doing good. Only because of tough love. He knows I had to do what I had to do. I really wish you luck. I feel so bad for you.
i am sorry you are going throught this but i seriously think the only answer is for him to be committed and proffessional help while in there, you are not going to be able to do this alone and i think after you will need a lot of counceling yourself good luck

First of all, don't give up! Talk to a psychiatrist about meds. There's so many options out there. Evetually something will help at least a little bit. Therapy is really important to. A therapist can give you tips on learning to control your moods. Sometimes you won't find the right therapist right away but keep trying, the right therapist is out there. Definitely do some research and show it to your wife. It's important that she knows what you're going through. Keep trying and work as hard as you can at getting better. The medications will definitely not do everything. It takes a lot of work on your part to. But I'm getting better so you can too.

joe, if have had this desease since i was very young, now i am 56.....i have lost wives and relationships over it.. kepp trying meds and combinations of meds, believe me, it is usualy luck if u find the right medical person to help u and same with the meds....also sounds like u r somewhat paranoid and also maybe a phobia..maybe....your wife needs someone to talk to her about your illness..i find if people show they care about u, it helps more than meds sometimes,, i have not worked a real job since 1989. and i was a professional person.. exercise and diet realy help, but only if u stick with it and make yourself do it!!!!good luck and never give up!!!!hey, i always say, they may do brain transplants someday!!!!
Try going to see a neurologist. Bi-polar is a disorder that affects the brain and sorry, but neurologists know the brain better than psychiatrists. Also, if you are not on a med that is working, then it might be making you worse. Invite your wife to go with you to the docs so that you can each ask questions and get educated. Try going to see a neurologist. Bi-polar is a disorder that affects the brain and sorry, but neurologists know the brain better than psychiatrists. Also, if you are not on a med that is working, then it might be making you worse. Invite your wife to go with you to the docs so that you can each ask questions and get educated. First of all, don't give up! Talk to a psychiatrist about meds. There's so many options out there. Evetually something will help at least a little bit. Therapy is really important to. A therapist can give you tips on learning to control your moods. Sometimes you won't find the right therapist right away but keep trying, the right therapist is out there. Definitely do some research and show it to your wife. It's important that she knows what you're going through. Keep trying and work as hard as you can at getting better. The medications will definitely not do everything. It takes a lot of work on your part to. But I'm getting better so you can too.
See a doctor-maybe Lithium will help balance you.

you can get pregnant on birth control. you really should take your pill at the same time everyday. but on occasion its ok to take it alittle bit later than usual. your period will change days that it starts even when you are on birth control. when i first started taking it i would start like on that saturday of the green pills, but by the time i was off of them i would start on tuesday. so i wouldnt stress over just one day. now come thursday and you havent started yet i would go to the docotor or get a test.

Hey, that shot is poison anyway, some women love it, but it seems to have the most annoying side effects when compared to other birth controls. What a great statement. I agree with you. And realistically, if the government thinks that they can disarm people, they are so seriously mistaken. I for one, am not gonna give up my right to defend myself. Furthermore there are other means of taken peoples lives, its just not guns. People are failing to realize this. And they forget that guns don't kill people, people kill people!
The only place I know of that you can read where a gun SAVED the life of a prospective victim is in the NRA publication, The American Rifleman. The media are only interested when a criminal uses a gun to kill innocents. But, for anyone willing to address the issue with an open mind, that is, with no prejudice toward one side or the other, it becomes obvious that gun control laws only serve to disarm law abiding citizens and that 'gun-free zones' only entice criminals.

Gun control is good to a point- There will always be weapons - just look what happens in our prisons. The type of weapon that is geared to high volume kill (machine gun) needs to be controlled. We would not want citizens to have nuclear weapons - why would we want them to have rocket launchers - yet a hunting rifle or single shot handgun for self protection makes sense.
Any law that guarantees only outlaws will be armed will always result in the mass carnage we saw in W. Virginia and have seen all too often.
