AVG Virus control is no longer FREE?

Is there another program besides Macaffe..It slows my machine to a crawl...AVG Virus control is no longer FREE?
avg is still free. the window you are seeing says ';avg free 7.1 is no longer supported. buy avg 7.5!'; and in small print at the bottom it says ';or, you can still get avg for free, you just have to get the 7.5 version and stop using 7.1';

I just downloaded the AVG free edition. However even it was true that AVG is no longer free, I would buy their fantastic program. There is another free virus program called AVAST that's good. Still, I am very impressed with AVG, and I used to run Macaffe, Norton's, Kaspersky, Trend Micro Cillin, you name it over the years, and AVG stands out in my opinion as very good value for money.
