I quit taking my birth control pills a while back, they are really not healthy to keep taking more than 2 or 3 years, especially if you smoke which I used to but I don't anymore. But I still feel like it's unhealthy to take hormones to change the way my body works so I understand.
For him though, I don't know. All the options I know of are condoms or vasectomy, which, vasectomy is not necessarily reversible so I mean he could end up never being able to have a kid again. If you are done having kids, then yeah it would be a good choice, but depending on his age a doctor might not even want to do that surgery.

I recommend vasectomy! Very much! The operation isn't fun. But it's not that bad - and after a few days, you're good to go, for the rest of your life. WAY more convenient than condoms. By the way. Condoms really s*ck. (especially for guys like me who are allergic to latex)

How would you feel if on your birthday someone very special gave you a gift only when you opened it you were disappointed to find the gift was used. The greatest gift you could give your husband is your virginity and you are only 13 and not going to get married anytime soon (at least I hope not) so I say wait and give that special gift of yourself to the person that deserves it the most and only you can make that decision. I am not sure what you mean by P reg but there should be a stalk on the steering column at about 4 o'clock. There is button on the end of it that will turn the cruise control on and off. Then you move the stalk to set the speed, speed up, slow down etc...

Okay, I am overweight. Not fat, but overweight. I have some health problems that don't allow me to do normal aerobic excercises like other people. Not only do I get huffy, but I start to have trouble breathing. I have passed out before. It's caused by action-induced asthma, and it is a genetic condition. Not to mention obesity runs in my family. These are circumstances beyond my control, and I struggle to keep my weight down.
It is not always a matter of self control. The sad thing is, most people don't feel sorry for them. Fact is, we are people too, and I have been passed by, passed over, ignored, teased, and humiliated because of how I look, and nobody thinks there is anything worth digging deeper for. Okay, I am overweight. Not fat, but overweight. I have some health problems that don't allow me to do normal aerobic excercises like other people. Not only do I get huffy, but I start to have trouble breathing. I have passed out before. It's caused by action-induced asthma, and it is a genetic condition. Not to mention obesity runs in my family. These are circumstances beyond my control, and I struggle to keep my weight down.
It is not always a matter of self control. The sad thing is, most people don't feel sorry for them. Fact is, we are people too, and I have been passed by, passed over, ignored, teased, and humiliated because of how I look, and nobody thinks there is anything worth digging deeper for. When you got your Acer laptop, the Bluetooth drivers should have been installed automatically for you, so that when you press the button to turn Bluetooth on you get text on your screen saying ';Bluetooth enabled';
To check your Bluetooth that is installed you need to go to: Control Panel -%26gt; System -%26gt; Device Manager
and it will be in there. You can update the driver for it in there, or you should have a drivers CD that you got with your laptop that you can put in and choose to install Bluetooth drivers.
Failing that, check the Acer support pages for Bluetooth drivers for your laptop: http://global.acer.com/support/index.htm
Or contact the support staff as they should fix your problem for free! :o)

I absolutely love soda, I drink it all day and I can't stand the thought of water, juice, milk, or tea. And I LOVE fast food. It's so easy and cheap and convenient and I really don't have any self control...I've wanted to stop eating it for a few years now, and I just can't. When I was a teenager it wasn't really a problem but now that I'm a little older the pounds are starting to come along with it. How can I get around my cravings and temptations.I want to stop eating fast food/drinking soda but I have no self control.?

Maybe an interesting salad in a plastic container or make your own chinese stir fry, healthy veggie %26amp; chicken pizza, homemade burrito, etc. Make a list of fun lunches to try and make your grocery list for that whole week. It will take you a few minutes at night to make the lunch and but you will save money in the long run and be healthier.
As far as junk food in the house, don't buy it, if it's not in the house you won't eat it! If you are still a teenager living at home tell your mom or dad whoever buys the groceries that you are trying to eat healthy and see if they will cut back on the junk food in the house or keep her own stash in a special cabinet.

Don't want to kill her and if she's not comfortable, she'll let you know and it's not pretty. She can stand a higher heat, but the cats have fur and I don't want them getting heat exhaustion if I'm not home. If I am home, I can take care of them. This is why my thermostat is programmable. : )

No period in 4 months, pregnancy tests are negative, on birth control?

I know this is a redundant question, but everyone is different. I haven't had my period for 4 months now, I have taken dozens of home pregnancy tests of various brands and all show up negative, and I am on the pill. I still take the pill on a consistent basis even though I am not having my period, I've been on the pill for about 2 years now. I do exercise but it's not rigorous and I have a tendency to stress out a bit. I am scared that it's cancer, or I'm infertile, or something else drastic. Maybe you should do a blood test... only a blood test can determine if you are truly pregnant. You could have been adversely affected by the pill or it could be the stress that you might be sick.

I didn't read all that but certain birth controls stop your period, my ex's did.
I havent personally experienced this but I know people who have. I know in 2 cases it was pregnancy. If you are saying it has been 4 months though chances are you would know by now because of other feelings. I would say that the birth control pills are just messing you up. You should stop taking them for awhile and see if it comes then. Chances are it will.
All I can say is this isn't normal, and it's a good thing you're going to the doctor.

i dont really see where a prenatal vitamin is going to prevent pregnancy in any way...that's just to replace all the vitamins lost in the birth process....i would recommend the methods of preventing pregnancy everyone else uses..condoms/foams. why dont you get some birth control? pills dont really cause weight gain too much, they help with your face getting pimples, they help to regulate your period and help against getting prego again..if they make you sick they make plenty of low dose pills that are easier on you.

I agree with you; a half way decent movie is hard to come by which is probably why I do not go to the movies all that often.
Everythings grows like weeds now-a-days. Starting from universities to engineering colleges to film-directors and all that - everything grows like weeds. This is the trash-period of Kali-Yuga running.
Sometimes I think the movie's financers ($$$ to back) are really looking for tax write-offs. Which means anyone that ';can direct'; do. Then you view a film which is actually a waste of time, not even a one hit wonder, and you leave the theater shaking your head and thinking what was that about.
Yep, I think all of these so called directors numbers swell and are backed by the money men for tax write offs. So the need for directors has nothing to do with quality movies!
I think janitors at the studios are writing the scripts now.
Coz every tom dick and harry is getting in to direction. flop actors(abhishake kapoor,atul agnihotri,i can leave pooja bhatt she's still better) choreographers, photographers(have u seen Alag?), stunt man,fashion designers,singers....

How do I calm down in a bad situation? I have no self control?
I have extremely bad anger issues. When I get pissed off, I go absolutely crazy. And I can't remember anything afterwards, it's like I black out for a few minutes.
For example:
Little get together/party at my buddies house. We're drinking and talking, just having a good time. Then someone breaks out the boxing gloves. My buddy starts messing with me and saying ';come on, lets box.'; I didn't want to, I had a headache and was tired. He starts hitting me with a glove, trying to get me to fight. I start to get mad and start yelling at him. He keeps on egging me on. Then he punches me in the back of the head and says come on lets box. I go at him with no gloves and start hitting him until I can't lift my arm anymore. I don't remember this, I just remember getting up and seeing my friend laying on the ground. I didn't mean to do this. It's as if someone or something possesed me and I had no control. How can I control myself? What can I do to better myself? It isn't always about sef-control. Sometimes people have 'rage blackouts' and don't remember a thing. Like me, for example, I don't drink or do drugs, but sometimes I get really angry. Find a better way to express your anger and you may not have as many. Pick karate, boxing, or kickboxing. Eat healthy and take care of yourself. A good thing to ask yourself is did I ever feel slighted when I was a kid? Do I ever feel slighted now? A lot of times words are better than throwing punches, but you definetely need fo find these things out, and express andger in a healthier way, with no consequences.

If this only happens when drinking, I'd guess the alcohol impairs your good judgment. It affects some guys in this manner. Easy solution, don't drink.

You could meditate, or try medication, write down your worries, make lists of things to do in order of importance, after making lists, rationalize how much you should worry about the items, then devote 15 to 30 minutes to just worrying about those things, if that doesn't work try to exercise when you start to excessively worry.

What makes you worry to much? Peer Pressure? School? Money? They key to a clear-mind and positive life is to indentify what makes you worry. Worrying to much causes mental stress and anxiety. I think you need to tell a loved one that really cares about you rather it's family or close friends why you are worried so much and find ways to knock that nasty feeling down. It would make you more important and happy showing they are there to help you out. I agree with dorky you should mediate or exercise. It will help raise the mental status and open the mind up to take on more challenges and strengthen your mentality to compress the worrisome you feel. Worrisome makes you feel burden and unconfident. It needs to stop!
Give it away. If you're a Christian your minister would say give it all to God because the Bible says DO IT! Worry is not our problem, it is his.
Now, if you're not a Christian you can still do it by basically the same means. Instead of worrying about it, you must look a little deeper and ask yourself:
Is it in the past? Yes:it's over, you can't change the past so suck it up and move on. No: how much control do you really have over it? If none, again, suck it up and move on. Come back to it when and if it comes up again. If alot, then take care of your business as best you can, then, again, suck it up!
Is it in the future or even a possibility? How much control do you really have over it? If none, again, suck it up and move on. Come back to it when and if it comes up again. If alot, then take care of your business as best you can, then, again, suck it up!
The same will apply to the present.
Basically, you need to understand and convince yourself that there are some things that you just cannot change and have no control over regardless of how hard you try to change them...or in your case, worry over them. Moving on doesn't mean you don't care, it just means you're not making yourself a wreck worrying about it.
You also need to understand that this causes your body and mind a great deal of stress and you are literally shortening your lifespan by stressing yourself so much. If you need an extra incentive to stop yourself, use that one!
You're not alone in that aspect.
Are you seeing a doctor for it? A psychologist's job is to help you develop these techniques.
Stuff that has worked for me:
Deep breathing---just focus on your breathing. Imagine yourself breathing in calm and peace and exhaling worry and fear. It helps if you can associate a color with each part, like I do red for out and blue for coming in (because green for peace makes me think of sickness...).
Distractions---I find it's easier to push the worries away if you are keeping your mind occupied. Find a fast-paced way to keep your mind going. For example, at times TV is better than reading because it's right there and out of the part of your mind that can imagine things out of proportion.
Visualization---Try to picture a place that you can be truly safe in, it does not have to be a real place. Somewhere where you can picture yourself in, and NOTHING can come in. Pay very close attention to details and describe to yourself the sounds and sights you experience.
Have great friends and family who will let you cry to them, and then play games or have a fun conversation to get your mind off of it.
I hope you feel better. And you shoudl see a doctor, for meds and techniques that work for you.
Oh man, I used to be the exact same way. But you've got to realize, that half the time half the things don't even matter. And there's no reason to worry over things that you can't even control. What comes will come. But if you can control it, just make sure you're well prepared, and everythings orgainized, and then just let what happens happen. Get your mind off things. Read a book, get involved in something. Distract your mind. And if you have to worry about. Tell yourself to go ahead and have fun, and then worry about it when you get there. That helped me. And now, I don't even really worry about things any more unless they're important.

Every since then I am late on my period, and last night I had these horable cramps, like I do when I am going to start my period, usually my period starts the same day. It is 24hr later and still no period. My stomach is hard just like it was when I was pregnant with my daughter, my breast where the milk glands are, are sore. I have taken a HPT but it came back negative.
I have been told to wait a wk and then take the test again. Has anybody ever had this? Please help me.

Just a question from a curious Christian: Why are women forced to cover their heads and hair for ';modesty'; (in some extreme forms of your religion, their entire bodies and heads, making them into some inhuman lump of cloth rather than a PERSON)?

1.An act of obedience.
The hijab is an act of obedience to Allah and to his prophet (pbuh), Allah says in the Qur'an: `It is not for a believer, man or woman, when Allah and His messenger have decreed a matter that they should have an option in their decision. And whoever disobeys Allah and His Messenger, has indeed strayed in a plain error.' (S33:36).
Allah also said: 'And tell the believing women to lower their gaze (from looking at forbidden things) and protect their private parts (from illegal sexual acts, etc) and not to show off their adornment except what must (ordinarily) appear thereof, that they should draw their veils over their Juyubihinna.'(S24:31).
Juyubihinna: The respected scholars from As-Salaf As-Saleh (righteous predecessors) differed whether the veil cover of the body must include the hands and face or not. Today, respected scholars say that the hands and face must be covered. Other respected scholars say it is preferable for women to cover their whole bodies.
2.The Hijab is IFFAH (Modesty).
Allah (subhana wa'atala) made the adherence to the hijab a manifestation for chastity and modesty. Allah says: 'O Prophet! Tell your wives and your daughters and the women of the believers to draw their cloaks (veils) over their bodies (when outdoors). That is most convenient that they should be known and not molested.' (S33:59). In the above Ayaah there is an evidence that the recognition of the apparent beauty of the woman is harmful to her. When the cause of attraction ends, the restriction is removed. This is illustrated in the case of elderly women who may have lost every aspect of attraction. Allah (swt) made it permissible for them to lay aside their outer garments and expose their faces and hands reminding, however, that is still better for them to keep their modesty.
3.The hijab is Tahara (Purity)
Allah (swt) had shown us the hikma (wisdom) behind the legislation of the hijab: `And when you ask them (the Prophet's wives) for anything you want, ask them from behind a screen, that is purer for your hearts and their hearts.' (S33:53).
The hijab makes for greater purity for the hearts of believing men and women because it screens against the desire of the heart. Without the hijab, the heart may or may not desire. That is why the heart is more pure when the sight is blocked (by hijab) and thus the prevention of fitna (evil actions is very much manifested. The hijab cuts off the ill thoughts and the greed of the sick hearts:
`Be not soft in speech, lest he in whose heart is a disease (of hypocrisy or evil desire for adultery, etc) should be moved with desire, but speak in an honourable manner.' (S33:32)
4.The hijab is a Shield
The prophet (pbuh) said: ';Allah, Most High, is Heaven, is Ha'yeii (Bashful), Sit'teer (Shielder). He loves Haya' (Bashfulness) and Sitr (Shielding; Covering).'; The Prophet (pbuh) also said: ';Any woman who takes off her clothes in other than her husband's house (to show off for unlawful purposes), has broken Allah's shield upon her. ';The hadith demonstrates that depending upon the kind of action committed there will be either reward (if good) or punishment (if bad).
5. The hijab is Taqwah (Righteousness)
Allah (swt) says in the Qur'an: `O children of Adam! We have bestowed raiment upon you to cover yourselves (screen your private parts, etc) and as an adornment. But the raiment of righteousness, that is better.'(S7:26). The widespread forms of dresses in the world today are mostly for show off and hardly taken as a cover and shield of the woman's body. To the believing women, however the purpose is to safeguard their bodies and cover their private parts as a manifestation of the order of Allah. It is an act of Taqwah (righteousness).
6.The hijab is Eemaan (Belief or Faith)
Allah (swt) did not address His words about the hijab except to the believing women, Al-Mo'minat. In many cases in the Qur'an Allah refers to the ';the believing women';. Aisha (RA), the wife of the prophet (pbuh), addressed some women from the tribe of Banu Tameem who came to visit her and had light clothes on them, they were improperly dressed: ';If indeed you are believing women, then truly this is not the dress of the believing women, and if you are not believing women, then enjoy it.';
7. The hijab is Haya' (Bashfulness)
There are two authentic hadith which state: ';Each religion has a morality and the morality of Islam is haya''; AND ';Bashfulness is from belief, and belief is in Al-Jannah (paradise)';. The hijab fits the natural bashfulness which is a part of the nature of women.
8.The hijab is Gheerah
The hijab fits the natural feeling of Gheerah, which is intrinsic in the straight man who does not like people to look at his wife or daughters. Gheerah is a driving emotion that drives the straight man to safeguard women who are related to him from strangers. The straight MUSLIM man has Gheerah for ALL MUSLIM women In response to lust and desire, men look (with desire) at other women while they do not mind that other men do the same to their wives or daughters. The mixing of sexes and absence of hijab destroys the Gheera in men. Islam considers Gheerah an integral part of faith. The dignity of the wife or daughter or any other Muslim woman must be highly respected and defended.

Lets analise Islamic Hijab in the light of logic history and factual examples.

Hijaab for men
People usually only discuss ‘hijaab’ in the context of women. However, in the Glorious Qur’an, Allah (swt) first mentions ‘hijaab’ for men before ‘hijaab’ for the women. The Qur’an mentions in Surah Noor:
';Say to the believing men that they should lower their gaze and guard their modesty: that will make for greater purity for them: and Allah is well acquainted with all that they do.';
[Al-Qur’an 24:30]
The moment a man looks at a woman and if any brazen or unashamed thought comes to his mind, he should lower his gaze.
Hijaab for women.
The next verse of Surah Noor, says:
'; And say to the believing women that they should lower their gaze and guard their modesty; that they should not display their beauty and ornaments except what (must ordinarily) appear thereof; that they should draw veils over their bosoms and not display their beauty except to their husbands, their fathers, their husbands’ fathers, their sons...';
[Al-Qur’an 24:31]

Six criteria for Hijaab.
According to Qur’an and Sunnah there are basically six criteria for observing hijaab:
Extent:
The first criterion is the extent of the body that should be covered. This is different for men and women. The extent of covering obligatory on the male is to cover the body at least from the navel to the knees. For women, the extent of covering obligatory is to cover the complete body except the face and the hands upto the wrist. If they wish to, they can cover even these parts of the body. Some scholars of Islam insist that the face and the hands are part of the obligatory extent of ‘hijaab’.
All the remaining five criteria are the same for men and women.
The clothes worn should be loose and should not reveal the figure.
The clothes worn should not be transparent such that one can see through them.
The clothes worn should not be so glamorous as to attract the opposite sex.
The clothes worn should not resemble that of the opposite sex.
The clothes worn should not resemble that of the unbelievers i.e. they should not wear clothes that are specifically identities or symbols of the unbelievers’ religions.

Hijaab includes conduct and behaviour among other things
Complete ‘hijaab’, besides the six criteria of clothing, also includes the moral conduct, behaviour, attitude and intention of the individual. A person only fulfilling the criteria of ‘hijaab’ of the clothes is observing ‘hijaab’ in a limited sense. ‘Hijaab’ of the clothes should be accompanied by ‘hijaab’ of the eyes, ‘hijaab’ of the heart, ‘hijaab’ of thought and ‘hijaab’ of intention. It also includes the way a person walks, the way a person talks, the way he behaves, etc.

Hijaab prevents molestation
The reason why Hijaab is prescribed for women is mentioned in the Qur’an in the following verses of Surah Al-Ahzab:
';O Prophet! Tell thy wives and daughters, and the believing women that they should cast their outer garments over their persons (when abroad); that is most convenient, that they should be known (as such) and not molested. And Allah is Oft-Forgiving, Most Merciful.';
[Al-Qur’an 33:59]
The Qur’an says that Hijaab has been prescribed for the women so that they are recognized as modest women and this will also prevent them from being molested.

Example of twin sisters
Suppose two sisters who are twins, and who are equally beautiful, walk down the street. One of them is attired in the Islamic hijaab i.e. the complete body is covered, except for the face and the hands up to the wrists. The other sister is wearing western clothes, a mini skirt or shorts. Just around the corner there is a hooligan or ruffian who is waiting for a catch, to tease a girl. Whom will he tease? The girl wearing the Islamic Hijaab or the girl wearing the skirt or the mini? Naturally he will tease the girl wearing the skirt or the mini. Such dresses are an indirect invitation to the opposite sex for teasing and molestation. The Qur’an rightly says that hijaab prevents women from being molested.

Capital punishment for the rapists
Under the Islamic shariah, a man convicted of having raped a woman, is given capital punishment. Many are astonished at this ‘harsh’ sentence. Some even say that Islam is a ruthless, barbaric religion! I have asked a simple question to hundreds of non-Muslim men. Suppose, God forbid, someone rapes your wife, your mother or your sister. You are made the judge and the rapist is brought in front of you. What punishment would you give him? All of them said they would put him to death. Some went to the extent of saying they would torture him to death. To them I ask, if someone rapes your wife or your mother you want to put him to death. But if the same crime is committed on somebody else’s wife or daughter you say capital punishment is barbaric. Why should there be double standards?

Western society falsely claims to have uplifted women
Western talk of women’s liberalization is nothing but a disguised form of exploitation of her body, degradation of her soul, and deprivation of her honour. Western society claims to have ‘uplifted’ women. On the contrary it has actually degraded them to the status of concubines, mistresses and society butterflies who are mere tools in the hands of pleasure seekers and sex marketeers, hidden behind the colourful screen of ‘art’ and ‘culture’.

USA has one of the highest rates of rape
United States of America is supposed to be one of the most advanced countries of the world. It also has one of the highest rates of rape in any country in the world. According to a FBI report, in the year 1990, every day on an average 1756 cases of rape were committed in U.S.A alone. Later another report said that on an average everyday 1900 cases of rapes are committed in USA. The year was not mentioned. May be it was 1992 or 1993. May be the Americans got ‘bolder’ in the following years.
Consider a scenario where the Islamic hijaab is followed in America. Whenever a man looks at a woman and any brazen or unashamed thought comes to his mind, he lowers his gaze. If Islamic Shariah is implemented in any part of the world, whether it is America or Europe, society will breathe easier. often hijab is tyed with being 'liberated from the beauty contest', alot of normal christian woman are likely to spend a while buying and applying make-up, clothes .etc, and also be embarrased wearing the wrong/no make-up or clothes.
It also means you cannot judge someone by their appearence, you may deny it but we all are suspicious of someones personality and are forced to assume what they are like before we know them which could hinder the latter.
You may judge a blonde with bright pink lipstick and bright blue eyeliner as many things but probably wouldn't realise she could be head of a chess club, you see?

I totally agree, however the hijab is a symbol of the believing Muslim woman above anything else. It's not even mentioned in the Qu'ran, aside from the emphasis on modest clothing. It was adopted by the wives and daughters of the prophet and his companions as a way of differentiating between Muslims and non. Pre-Islamic Arabia regarded women as property and so the ';nomadic'; women who were seen out in public were immediately branded as the fallen woman (prostitute), therefore to a certain extent within Arabia the hijab was a form of protection.

Yet, long term, when a man looks past the tight pants and heels, he will ultimately detect not confidence, but a certain unattractive desperation. 1.An act of obedience.
The hijab is an act of obedience to Allah and to his prophet (pbuh), Allah says in the Qur'an: `It is not for a believer, man or woman, when Allah and His messenger have decreed a matter that they should have an option in their decision. And whoever disobeys Allah and His Messenger, has indeed strayed in a plain error.' (S33:36).
Allah also said: 'And tell the believing women to lower their gaze (from looking at forbidden things) and protect their private parts (from illegal sexual acts, etc) and not to show off their adornment except what must (ordinarily) appear thereof, that they should draw their veils over their Juyubihinna.'(S24:31).
Juyubihinna: The respected scholars from As-Salaf As-Saleh (righteous predecessors) differed whether the veil cover of the body must include the hands and face or not. Today, respected scholars say that the hands and face must be covered. Other respected scholars say it is preferable for women to cover their whole bodies.
2.The Hijab is IFFAH (Modesty).
Allah (subhana wa'atala) made the adherence to the hijab a manifestation for chastity and modesty. Allah says: 'O Prophet! Tell your wives and your daughters and the women of the believers to draw their cloaks (veils) over their bodies (when outdoors). That is most convenient that they should be known and not molested.' (S33:59). In the above Ayaah there is an evidence that the recognition of the apparent beauty of the woman is harmful to her. When the cause of attraction ends, the restriction is removed. This is illustrated in the case of elderly women who may have lost every aspect of attraction. Allah (swt) made it permissible for them to lay aside their outer garments and expose their faces and hands reminding, however, that is still better for them to keep their modesty.
3.The hijab is Tahara (Purity)
Allah (swt) had shown us the hikma (wisdom) behind the legislation of the hijab: `And when you ask them (the Prophet's wives) for anything you want, ask them from behind a screen, that is purer for your hearts and their hearts.' (S33:53).
The hijab makes for greater purity for the hearts of believing men and women because it screens against the desire of the heart. Without the hijab, the heart may or may not desire. That is why the heart is more pure when the sight is blocked (by hijab) and thus the prevention of fitna (evil actions is very much manifested. The hijab cuts off the ill thoughts and the greed of the sick hearts:
`Be not soft in speech, lest he in whose heart is a disease (of hypocrisy or evil desire for adultery, etc) should be moved with desire, but speak in an honourable manner.' (S33:32)
4.The hijab is a Shield
The prophet (pbuh) said: ';Allah, Most High, is Heaven, is Ha'yeii (Bashful), Sit'teer (Shielder). He loves Haya' (Bashfulness) and Sitr (Shielding; Covering).'; The Prophet (pbuh) also said: ';Any woman who takes off her clothes in other than her husband's house (to show off for unlawful purposes), has broken Allah's shield upon her. ';The hadith demonstrates that depending upon the kind of action committed there will be either reward (if good) or punishment (if bad).
5. The hijab is Taqwah (Righteousness)
Allah (swt) says in the Qur'an: `O children of Adam! We have bestowed raiment upon you to cover yourselves (screen your private parts, etc) and as an adornment. But the raiment of righteousness, that is better.'(S7:26). The widespread forms of dresses in the world today are mostly for show off and hardly taken as a cover and shield of the woman's body. To the believing women, however the purpose is to safeguard their bodies and cover their private parts as a manifestation of the order of Allah. It is an act of Taqwah (righteousness).
6.The hijab is Eemaan (Belief or Faith)
Allah (swt) did not address His words about the hijab except to the believing women, Al-Mo'minat. In many cases in the Qur'an Allah refers to the ';the believing women';. Aisha (RA), the wife of the prophet (pbuh), addressed some women from the tribe of Banu Tameem who came to visit her and had light clothes on them, they were improperly dressed: ';If indeed you are believing women, then truly this is not the dress of the believing women, and if you are not believing women, then enjoy it.';
7. The hijab is Haya' (Bashfulness)
There are two authentic hadith which state: ';Each religion has a morality and the morality of Islam is haya''; AND ';Bashfulness is from belief, and belief is in Al-Jannah (paradise)';. The hijab fits the natural bashfulness which is a part of the nature of women.
8.The hijab is Gheerah
The hijab fits the natural feeling of Gheerah, which is intrinsic in the straight man who does not like people to look at his wife or daughters. Gheerah is a driving emotion that drives the straight man to safeguard women who are related to him from strangers. The straight MUSLIM man has Gheerah for ALL MUSLIM women In response to lust and desire, men look (with desire) at other women while they do not mind that other men do the same to their wives or daughters. The mixing of sexes and absence of hijab destroys the Gheera in men. Islam considers Gheerah an integral part of faith. The dignity of the wife or daughter or any other Muslim woman must be highly respected and defended.

Bible says in 1 timothy Chapter 2 Verse 9
''In like manner also that the women adorn her self in modest apparel, with properiety and moderation.not with braided hair of gold or pearl or costly clothing.''
So your bible clearly says that if women doesnt cover her head her head shud be shaved off right?

Lets analise Islamic Hijab in the light of logic history and factual examples.

Hijaab for men
People usually only discuss ‘hijaab’ in the context of women. However, in the Glorious Qur’an, Allah (swt) first mentions ‘hijaab’ for men before ‘hijaab’ for the women. The Qur’an mentions in Surah Noor:
';Say to the believing men that they should lower their gaze and guard their modesty: that will make for greater purity for them: and Allah is well acquainted with all that they do.';
[Al-Qur’an 24:30]
The moment a man looks at a woman and if any brazen or unashamed thought comes to his mind, he should lower his gaze.
Hijaab for women.
The next verse of Surah Noor, says:
'; And say to the believing women that they should lower their gaze and guard their modesty; that they should not display their beauty and ornaments except what (must ordinarily) appear thereof; that they should draw veils over their bosoms and not display their beauty except to their husbands, their fathers, their husbands’ fathers, their sons...';

Six criteria for Hijaab.
According to Qur’an and Sunnah there are basically six criteria for observing hijaab:
Extent:
The first criterion is the extent of the body that should be covered. This is different for men and women. The extent of covering obligatory on the male is to cover the body at least from the navel to the knees. For women, the extent of covering obligatory is to cover the complete body except the face and the hands upto the wrist. If they wish to, they can cover even these parts of the body. Some scholars of Islam insist that the face and the hands are part of the obligatory extent of ‘hijaab’.
All the remaining five criteria are the same for men and women.
The clothes worn should be loose and should not reveal the figure.
The clothes worn should not be transparent such that one can see through them.
The clothes worn should not be so glamorous as to attract the opposite sex.
The clothes worn should not resemble that of the opposite sex.
The clothes worn should not resemble that of the unbelievers i.e. they should not wear clothes that are specifically identities or symbols of the unbelievers’ religions.

Hijaab includes conduct and behaviour among other things
Complete ‘hijaab’, besides the six criteria of clothing, also includes the moral conduct, behaviour, attitude and intention of the individual. A person only fulfilling the criteria of ‘hijaab’ of the clothes is observing ‘hijaab’ in a limited sense. ‘Hijaab’ of the clothes should be accompanied by ‘hijaab’ of the eyes, ‘hijaab’ of the heart, ‘hijaab’ of thought and ‘hijaab’ of intention. It also includes the way a person walks, the way a person talks, the way he behaves, etc.

Hijaab prevents molestation
The reason why Hijaab is prescribed for women is mentioned in the Qur’an in the following verses of Surah Al-Ahzab:
';O Prophet! Tell thy wives and daughters, and the believing women that they should cast their outer garments over their persons (when abroad); that is most convenient, that they should be known (as such) and not molested. And Allah is Oft-Forgiving, Most Merciful.';
[Al-Qur’an 33:59]
The Qur’an says that Hijaab has been prescribed for the women so that they are recognized as modest women and this will also prevent them from being molested.

Example of twin sisters
Suppose two sisters who are twins, and who are equally beautiful, walk down the street. One of them is attired in the Islamic hijaab i.e. the complete body is covered, except for the face and the hands up to the wrists. The other sister is wearing western clothes, a mini skirt or shorts. Just around the corner there is a hooligan or ruffian who is waiting for a catch, to tease a girl. Whom will he tease? The girl wearing the Islamic Hijaab or the girl wearing the skirt or the mini? Naturally he will tease the girl wearing the skirt or the mini. Such dresses are an indirect invitation to the opposite sex for teasing and molestation. The Qur’an rightly says that hijaab prevents women from being molested.

Capital punishment for the rapists
Under the Islamic shariah, a man convicted of having raped a woman, is given capital punishment. Many are astonished at this ‘harsh’ sentence. Some even say that Islam is a ruthless, barbaric religion! I have asked a simple question to hundreds of non-Muslim men. Suppose, God forbid, someone rapes your wife, your mother or your sister. You are made the judge and the rapist is brought in front of you. What punishment would you give him? All of them said they would put him to death. Some went to the extent of saying they would torture him to death. To them I ask, if someone rapes your wife or your mother you want to put him to death. But if the same crime is committed on somebody else’s wife or daughter you say capital punishment is barbaric. Why should there be double standards?

Western society falsely claims to have uplifted women
Western talk of women’s liberalization is nothing but a disguised form of exploitation of her body, degradation of her soul, and deprivation of her honour. Western society claims to have ‘uplifted’ women. On the contrary it has actually degraded them to the status of concubines, mistresses and society butterflies who are mere tools in the hands of pleasure seekers and sex marketeers, hidden behind the colourful screen of ‘art’ and ‘culture’.

USA has one of the highest rates of rape
United States of America is supposed to be one of the most advanced countries of the world. It also has one of the highest rates of rape in any country in the world. According to a FBI report, in the year 1990, every day on an average 1756 cases of rape were committed in U.S.A alone. Later another report said that on an average everyday 1900 cases of rapes are committed in USA. The year was not mentioned. May be it was 1992 or 1993. May be the Americans got ‘bolder’ in the following years.
Consider a scenario where the Islamic hijaab is followed in America. Whenever a man looks at a woman and any brazen or unashamed thought comes to his mind, he lowers his gaze. Naturally as soon as Islamic Shariah is implemented positive results will be inevitable. If Islamic Shariah is implemented in any part of the world, whether it is America or Europe, society will breathe easier. Hijaab does not degrade a woman but uplifts a woman and protects her modesty and chastity .

I worked in Southbeach Miami for awhile and I saw a family of Muslims walking the women covered head to toe in scarfs and dresses and the men in suits. They were walking along observing the sights...one of the sights was a rollerblading women in a thong and nothing at all else.
I wondered what the men must have thought about that!

I suppose I'd better leap to hijabs defense,
often hijab is tyed with being 'liberated from the beauty contest', alot of normal christian woman are likely to spend a while buying and applying make-up, clothes .etc, and also be embarrased wearing the wrong/no make-up or clothes.
It also means you cannot judge someone by their appearence, you may deny it but we all are suspicious of someones personality and are forced to assume what they are like before we know them which could hinder the latter.
You may judge a blonde with bright pink lipstick and bright blue eyeliner as many things but probably wouldn't realise she could be head of a chess club, you see?

It is a woman's choose to wear hijab ( the headscaff ) and it is to do with dressing modestly and to show she is a faithful Muslim and that she does not want to be viewed in a sexual manner

I totally agree, however the hijab is a symbol of the believing Muslim woman above anything else. It's not even mentioned in the Qu'ran, aside from the emphasis on modest clothing. It was adopted by the wives and daughters of the prophet and his companions as a way of differentiating between Muslims and non. Pre-Islamic Arabia regarded women as property and so the ';nomadic'; women who were seen out in public were immediately branded as the fallen woman (prostitute), therefore to a certain extent within Arabia the hijab was a form of protection.
