If I can no longer afford metformin, is there a way to control blood sugar for diabetes?

Exercise is the best substitute for Metformin.Metformin increases the insulin(already existing in your body)to go into cells .Metformin does not stimulate production of insulin.Exercise also facilitates insulin transmission into cells.Exercise is good for the body in several other ways.Even if you do not lose weight, exercise improves insulin utilisation.Advice to all diabetics--Try diet and exercise first.Drugs only if diet and exercise fail.If I can no longer afford metformin, is there a way to control blood sugar for diabetes?
Canada is a opcion,or maybe cactus pills from Mexico, check the webIf I can no longer afford metformin, is there a way to control blood sugar for diabetes?
Certain insulins (NPH, 70/30, R) can be bought cheaply ($20 per bottle) at Walmart. But I recommend finding a way to stay on Metformin. And of course you would need to talk to doctor about changes in plan.

Often doctors have samples.

Generic Metformin should not be terribly expensive.
I would suggest that you call the pharmaceutical company and tell them you can't afford their product anymore. They may just give it to you....it's been done before...
I am diabetic and I take metformin I would tell you to check with your local diabetic assoc. they might be able to help you or point you in a direction that you can go.

I know that it is hard because I am on a tight budget but do your best to stay on your medicine its really a good thing. I also take an herbal supplement to help. But please try to stay on your meds.
I'm sure ull really hate this answer but if u can no longer get metformin the best way to control blood sugar (and this is assuming that u don't need insulin and have type 2 diabetes) is to follow a healthy diet to the letter. It is possible to control blood sugar with a good diet but most people are not motivated anough to do this (and being fair, I wouldn't be able to do it myself). It is hard, but an alternative.

The worst thing to do id listen to old wivees tales as this is how people get inot trouble and find really high blood sugars.
Talk to your doctor about programs for drug coverage. Metformin/Glucophage is made by bristol-myers squibb company. Do a search for there website they should have some forms of some kind to fill out for help with your medications. GL
I don't know what you were/are spendin on metformin, but we have had people control their blood sugar with Glucoach (a targeted Transfer Factor product) and Fiber4Life.

You can email me directly from that website or order directly.
There is a book called the mangostteen desk reference by Dr Kenneth Finsand. He talks about diabetis in there, and has some suggessdtions. Is yours type one or two? And let me know if you have herad of xanthons
there is diet and exercise but diabetes is one disease you don't want to play around with if you cannot afford the medication i recommend talking to your doctor there are many programs out there to help with the cost of medications
u have to try to continue your physicians prescription. Changing medication by yourself might be harmful.

there are others drugs for diabetes, but they have to be used carefully and only by your physician.

exercising after meals is just a part of the treatment but it does not sustitute metformin.
