Re-wire electrical outlet so that it is no longer controlled by a wall switch?

i have a wall switch that controls two electrical outlets. i now have a tv connected to one of the outlets, so i don't want it to control that outlet anymore. how do i remove this outlet from the from the control of the wall switch?Re-wire electrical outlet so that it is no longer controlled by a wall switch?
Simple thing to do but w/ caution, Turn off power. You ll need two wire nuts to connect the wires in the switch and remove the switch. Cover w/ a solid face plate but don t bury this cover. Turn on power and you ll have direct power to the outlets. This isn t the ideal way to do it but it will work safely . GLRe-wire electrical outlet so that it is no longer controlled by a wall switch?
It depends on how it was wired.

IF BOTH outlets are wired to the switch DIRECTLY, bypassing the switch for one outlet is easy. Just move the wire for that outlet to the other side of the switch.

NOTE: THIS method of wiring is seldom used.

IF both outlets are connected BEFORE they are wired to the switch, bypassing or removing the switch will give BOTH outlets power ALL the time.

You would have to have them rewired if you still want one to operate off of the switch. This is NOT normally a DIY job. (In some places it would REQUIRE a permit and inspection!)
Please don't be offended by this, but if you are using Yahoo Answers to figure out how to do this, you should probably just call an electrician for your own safety.

Simply put, you are going to have to bypass the switch. If the outlet is the only thing the switch actuates, you may be able to get by with a relatively simple fix. If not, you may likely have to contend with a more complicated rewiring scenario.
Typically outlets that are controlled by a wall switch only turn one side of the outlet on and off. You said that you have two outlets controlled by the wall switch. To make the entire outlet (hot) you will need to make sure you know what side of the outlet has constant power. Next turn off the power before you remove outlet. Take the wire off of the switched side of the outlet, cut the wire and cap off with a wire nut. Then take the hot wire(the one with constant power that you labeled before you turned off the circuit) and strip the wire just long enough to wrap around both screws on that side of the outlet. Now the entire outlet is Hot. If both sides of the outlet are controlled by the wall switch then you may need to consult and electrician.
Rob's response will make both wall receptacles always hot. If you want to keep the first receptacle switch operated and the second receptacle always hot you will need to locate a separate power source and pull wire from it to the second receptacle. It would be best if you had access from either the attic or under the floor. If this is possible you will need to disconnect the wire from the first receptacle that goes to the second one.
you have to have a second source of power.

you have power at the switch do you have a connection at the plug. this is wat yu should have if you have pwr in the plug box.

should have a black and white tied to a white going to the switch and a black going to the plug..

if this is correct take a jumper wire from the incomng power and and then you have a white and black together with power, ( only time a white is alowed to carry a pwr source going to the switch break the little tab on plug on the brass side ( silver or white can stay conected)tie the new jumper to one side Hot all the time and the Gd to the switched side
I'm going to be watching for a real answer 'cause I have this problem as well! I'd like the lamp to be switched but NOT my alarm clock! :-)
