Check your Audio hardware, and re-install appropriate software..

May be that software is corrupted..

Make sure that you are installed the correct software or not.

Best Wishes!I have reinstalled xp and when i tried to play something but no sound. i went on control panel and i says...?
probably the audio driver is not properly installed. Use DriverMax to find out the correct driver
Go To Device Manager and look at the question mark section, then check hardware id and put it into google. This should bring up either the name of the device or the driver for it.
As stated, you just need your audio device drivers. These should be on the setup disk that came with pc/motherboard/soundcard
You need to get the drivers for it
