i heard that it helps to think about what you want to dream about through the day before you go to sleep but i keep getting my mind distracted with things like watching tv and talking to friends. is there a way to keep my mind better focused? what are some other ways and tricks to control my dreams? How do i control my dreams? (no links please sorry)?
Firstly, do your research about the brain and dreams. If you know how the brain and dreams work you increase your chances of control of dreams.
You need to meditate to discipline your mind against distractions.
Visualisation helps you have some influence on your dreams.
Keeping a dream journal will help you understand your dreams and remember them.
Keep away from caffeine, drugs and alcohol in the hours before you go to sleep.
Lucid dreaming is the main technique for actually controlling dreams whilst they happen. Do a google on ';Lucid dreaming'; for further information. There are also a few youtube videos on lucid dreaming. How do i control my dreams? (no links please sorry)?
what worked for me, was to start keeping a dream journal.
just keep a notebook at your bedside, and as soon as you wake up write down as much as you can from your dream. You'll be amazed at how much you can remember, and how much more you're brain will be able to remember weeks after you start your journal.
The really crazy part about this, is that after a few weeks you could start having lucid dreams, as in dreams where you KNOW you're dreaming and have full control over what happens.
even if you don't end up having lucid dreams, looking over your dream journal later is pretty cool
Your dreams are the result of occurrences and experiences, the past day, week or throughout your whole life, that affected you emotionally in a great way. You can't really control this.
Strong feelings of anticipation or fear will often arouse dreams about the things causing these feelings.
If you are aware you're dreaming, you can usually affect the dream, but the content of the dream will result from previous experiences still.
you can't.
they just come up into your mind a lot.
the only way i chase away dreams is to go to bed usually, set the alarm clock halfway through your sleeping time, try and stay awake even if it kills you,
and when you finally can't take it anymore, go to bed.
i usually wait three hours before going back to bed.
i turn on the radio.
helps a lot.
you can't sleep whether you TRIED!
whatever you think about b4 you go to bed
I SWEAR THIS IS A TRUE STORY !!!
I was lying in bed scared that I would have a bad dream (i was seven, now im 13) so I kept repeating over and over in my head again and again: ';it's only a dream';, ';it's only a dream';...... and my dream was that I was walking balk and forth down the hallway saying: ';it's only a dream';, ';it's only a dream';......
Sometimes when i'm in a dream, i know i'm dreaming, and i can change things, otherwise i think if you try and thing thought that you wouldn't mind dreaming about whilst your falling asleep that may help.
Oh and try not to eat too much before you go to bed too, i've heared that helps.
Good luck!
To realize your dreaming, look for things that seem out of place or awkward. Once you figure out your dreaming you can do anything you want, but it takes some control and practice to not wake up once you realize it's a dream. I don't know why this is, but it can be very frusterating.
Dreams are the result of your brain free-associating. Your brain is simply trying to make sense of what is occuring in your life. Many people find that they have ';dreamed'; a solution to something that is bothering them, that they are unsure about, or an idea that is original.
you have to be aware in your dream that you are dreaming, and then you can do whatever you want, just be careful not to wake yourself up.
just concentrate on what you want to happen in your dream %26amp; realize its a dream.
i always control my dreams :D
%26amp; i love it :D
Stay awake.
What I've tried in the past was keeping track of time.
Alright, make a random note in your pocket with some kind of symbol (optional), and keep a watch handy. Every time the clock reaches an hour, observe the note. Continue this on a daily basis, and your mind will consider it a routinely thing.
See where I'm going with this? Once you're in your dreams after you continue this method, you may start looking at the clock INSIDE them! Usually in dreams, either time is screwy, or something you rememeber may not be what it really was (in this case, the note and/or symbol). Once you find out that things are not as they seem, you begin to realize...YOU'RE DREAMING!
Once you can get this down, good luck not getting distracted. I remember knowing I was in a dream, and losing my concentration with a random array of stripes going past my eyes!
